URALIC Centre has partnered with the Council of Elders of the Congress of Võro people to support the implementation of the decisions of the 1st Congress of the Võro people held in April 2023.
In April-May 2025, URALIC conducted a training programme on indigenous peoples’ and national minority rights to the Council of Elders as part of the EU MARIO project “Indigenous Võro people of Estonia: from self-identification to official recognition”.
In June 2025 URALIC Centre also led a study trip for the Council of Elders to Galicia (Spain) and Miranda do Douro (Portugal) to learn about the good practices of revitalising and gaining official recognition for the Galician and Mirandese languages, respectively.
